So here we go,

At the left is the toolbar with contains the pen tool, this will be the tool you use the most. Touch the screen to set a anchor point, touch the screen again to set another. Now you got just a straight line (this is called a stroke), move your finger while touching the screen to make a curve.
Now make the lines into a shape to eventually make a drawing.

You can collor in lines using the fill option. At the richt ( the color block) you have the choice of Stroke or fill. Choose fill to collor in you strokes.

This is kinda the basic of inkpad. There are a lot of other things the app is in capable off, but those are more advanced things. It may sound kinda old but practice, practice, practice, it really makes a difference, just do things make lines, find out how it works ( I did that and it works) eventually when you know how the basics works you find out how the advanched stuff works (I use this app or a long time and I still learn some new things)

One little tip, buy a stylus that makes things a lot easier. Good luck
